Overview

Blepharoplasty removes excess skin and, when needed, repositions fat from the upper or lower eyelids. Dr. Hermes combines precision with aesthetic sensitivity to preserve the natural expression of your eyes. The result aims for a more rested, open gaze without changing your identity.

Dr. Hermes's approach

On the upper lid, Dr. Hermes places the incision within the natural crease to conceal it. On the lower lid, he accesses just below the lashes or from inside the lid to reposition or remove fat gently. His conservative, human approach prioritizes eye safety and a natural result, supporting you at every check-up.

Risks and honesty

Risks include swelling, bruising, temporary dry eye, light sensitivity, or minor asymmetry. In uncommon cases there can be prolonged irritation or brief difficulty fully closing the lid. Dr. Hermes minimizes these risks with careful technique and follow-up, though no procedure is free of risk and results vary.

Are you a good candidate?

Good candidates are people with droopy lids, excess skin, or under-eye bags that create a tired look. It can benefit different ages when the change comes from genetics or the passage of time. Good overall eye health is helpful, which Dr. Hermes assesses in consultation.

Recovery, step by step

  1. 01

    First 2-3 days

Swelling and bruising around the eyes, normal at this stage. Rest with your head elevated and use cold compresses as advised. It helps to wear sunglasses outdoors and avoid prolonged screen time.

  2. 02

    Days 4-7

Swelling eases noticeably and the eyes open more. Sutures, if any, are usually removed at this stage. Many people resume light activities and can cover residual bruising with makeup.

  3. 03

    Week 2-3

Swelling is now subtle and the result becomes visible: a fresher, more rested gaze. You can resume most of your activities. The very fine scars begin to fade.

  4. 04

    Month 1-3

The result fully settles and scars keep lightening over several months. You can resume exercise and all activities without restriction. The gaze looks natural and open. Dr. Hermes keeps follow-up during this period.

Frequently asked

The procedure works on the eyelid skin and fat, without touching the internal structures of the eye, so vision should not change. It is normal to feel dryness or slightly blurred vision in the first days, which is temporary. When excess skin was blocking the upper visual field, some people notice more comfort when looking.

The incisions follow the natural folds of the lid or sit just below the lashes, so they tend to be very discreet. Over time they fade and usually become hard to see. Skin care and sun protection help them improve.

Results are usually long-lasting, especially on the upper lid. Aging continues its natural course, so some change may appear over the years, but your gaze will look fresher than without the procedure. Each case is different and results vary.
