Overview
Rhinoplasty adjusts the structure of the nose to improve its shape and, in some cases, breathing. Dr. Hermes designs each plan around your facial proportions, aiming for a balanced, natural profile. The goal is for your nose to still look like yours, simply more in harmony with the rest of your face.
Dr. Hermes's approach
Depending on the case, Dr. Hermes uses a closed approach (internal incisions) or an open one (a small incision on the columella), reshaping bone and cartilage with care. He prioritizes preserving the nose's natural support for a stable, functional result. His human, conservative approach favors subtle changes that respect your features, caring for you at every stage of the process.
Risks and honesty
Like all surgery, rhinoplasty carries risks: prolonged swelling, bruising, infection, minor asymmetry, temporary breathing difficulty, or changes in tip sensation. In some cases a minor revision may be needed over time. Dr. Hermes reduces these risks with meticulous technique and close follow-up, though no procedure is free of risk and results vary.
Are you a good candidate?
Good candidates are people with full facial development who want to refine the bridge, tip, or size of the nose, or correct asymmetry or breathing difficulty. Good overall health and realistic expectations are important. Dr. Hermes assesses your anatomy in consultation to confirm whether it is appropriate for you.

Ready to take the first step?Recovery, step by step
- 01
First 5-7 days
You will wear a nasal splint and notice swelling and bruising around the eyes. Rest with your head elevated and avoid exertion. Breathing through the nose may feel congested, which is normal at this stage.
- 02
Week 1-2
The splint is removed and bruising begins to fade. Many people return to light and office activities. Visible swelling remains, especially at the tip, and it is best to keep avoiding sun and exercise.
- 03
Week 3-6
Most visible swelling subsides and the profile begins to define. You can resume light exercise as advised. The tip keeps refining gradually over the following months.
- 04
Month 3-12
The result settles progressively as residual swelling resolves. The final shape of the tip can take up to a year to fully reveal. Dr. Hermes keeps close follow-up throughout this period.
Frequently asked
In the closed approach the incisions are internal and leave no external scar. In the open approach there is a small incision on the columella, the strip of skin between the nostrils, which tends to fade and become very discreet over time. Dr. Hermes chooses the technique based on what your case needs.
In many cases, yes. When there is a deviated septum or other obstruction, the procedure can be combined with a functional correction to support better breathing. This is assessed in consultation, since every nose is different and results vary.
You will see a clear change in the first weeks, but residual swelling resolves gradually. The definitive shape, especially of the tip, can take up to a year to fully settle. That is why patience and follow-up with Dr. Hermes are important.
